Customer Review: Easy to use, clear and bright
I have 2 Nuvi 250Ws now, bought one for myself a year ago, and another as a gift for someone. It's a fantastic unit. This one does not have text-to-speech, so it won't attempt to pronounce or demolish your street names. It does speak things like "In point-5 miles turn left, then turn left." I usually am listening to music fairly loud when I'm traveling somewhere with the Nuvi so I don't miss the feature. My reason for giving the Nuvi 250w only 4 stars is 2 fold. First, upgrading the maps is expensive. It's almost more economical to just buy a whole new unit. Check out Garmin's website to see what I mean. Second, in industrial or very dense areas it has trouble pinpointing exactly where you go. Occasionally, it will just end in the middle of a street 1/4 mile from where you're supposed to be, or take you to the intersection of the block where your destination is. The 250W has Canadian maps which sets it apart from its look-alike, lesser-number models. Its also sleek and trim, and can even be kept in a shirt or coat pocket and used for on-foot directions (when you turn it to that mode).
